Designer Susannah Kate is well-known for finding interesting ways to combine crochet fabric and lace techniques to create modern garments and accessories. Cleverly constructed from a central rectangle that's worked in a four-row repeat, the stitches are perfect for those with a little more crochet experience. The Daisy Chain Shrug requires no shaping and showcases offset flower and bow motifs along the bodice, elegantly framed by decorative cuffs and edging. It’s featured here in Decadent Plum (250), one of the 17 rich shades in the Scheepjes Bamboo Soft collection.

Hi! My name is Susannah Kate. I live in Perth Australia where I work as veterinarian helping pets and their families and self-publish crochet patterns as Peppergoose Design. Crochet is just so versatile and one of my favourite sayings is that crochet can do (just about) anything! My crojo is to design modern garments and accessories that balance crochet lace and a knit-feel - the biggest compliment to me is when someone says, “I didn’t know crochet could look like that!”

Designing with crochet began as a means of grieving my grandmother who originally taught me this wonderful craft. Over time it has become a celebration of the colour, fibre, grading, and technical crochet geekery involved in manifesting a handmade wearable masterpiece out of string.

I believe crocheting clothes is a great way to express yourself and my goal is to inspire and help people achieve that. My crochet patterns are appreciated for their sleek aesthetic, data rich guidance, educational value, size inclusivity and good fit.

My website blog has free crochet tutorials for some of the common techniques I use in my patterns. I provide pattern support via my Facebook group Pepper-Gaggle and you can also find me as Peppergoose on Instagram, Facebook and Ravelry.
