Errata

A classic hat that suits everyone in the clan, thanks to its stretchy rib and uncomplicated shape crafted from soft and breathable wool yarn. The pastels and cool winter shades are perfectly on trend, but be warned—before you know it, you’ll find yourself making one to match every jacket or jumper!

Use just one ball of our 100% Recycled Superwash Merino Wool yarn, Woolwise, with either traditional dpns or circular needles to knit this hat in the round. With 60 colours in the range, how many will you create?

Materials

  • Scheepjes Woolwise (100% Recycled Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/200m)
    Yellow version
    713 Lemon Zest x 1 ball*
    Blue version
    751 Pale Azure x 1 ball*
    Brown version
    711 Cacao Husk x 1 ball*
  • 4mm knitting needles (at least 80cm long circular knitting needles for magic loop, or 4 double pointed needles)
  • Stitch markers

* The 1 x 1 rib pattern creates a very stretchy fabric, making this a lovely one-size-fits-most accessory for adults. To resize the hat, simply add or remove (a multiple of) four sts. The pattern uses most of a single ball of Woolwise, so you may need an extra ball should you wish to increase the size.

This is a beginner level pattern.

The written pattern for the Family Beanie, which measures 18 x 31cm (7 x 12¼") appears in the YARN Bookazine 18 – The Family Issue, published by Scheepjes. The bookazine is available, in both English UK and Dutch, from Ravelry as an ebook, and in print from Scheepjes retailers.

Canadutch ✪

Hi! I'm Tammy, a Canadian (originally from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia) currently living in France with my Dutch husband and very spoiled little dog. My crafty passion is knitting, but I also dabble in crochet, cross stitch, and quilting. I first learned to knit and crochet as a young teen. Both my mother and grandmother were very crafty and taught me to knit and crochet, but I unfortunately didn't really catch the bug until much later after I was already living an ocean away. Thankfully, the internet was there to fill in the gaps so that I could teach myself and pick up where I left off. I wasn't really serious about any crafts, working on just one or two projects each winter, until a few years ago when I picked knitting back up as a hobby during a stressful period. It seems to have stuck and I have been knitting more and more since. I have also started designing, which I find really fun and exciting. I want to help newer knitters find fun and interesting projects that they are able to knit with confidence. You can find my website here: Canadutch.
