About this Pattern

About the Designer
Errata

Inspired by traditional fisherman’s jumpers, this unisex cotton-mix sweater is a summer counterpart. Contemporary stitch patterns reflect ripples of waves in the sand and the tracks of gulls and long-legged wading birds roaming over mudflats and along the seashore.

Materials

  • Scheepjes Stone Washed XL (70% Cotton, 30% Acrylic; 50g/75m)
    871 Axinite x 16 (17: 19: 20: 22) balls
  • 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm knitting needles
  • 1 x cable needle

Pattern

This is an advanced level pattern.

The pattern for the Sandpiper Sweater appears in YARN Bookazine 13 Wadden, published by Scheepjes.

I first became interested in knitwear design while doing a
Fashion/Textiles degree, when a visiting tutor set a knitwear project. After graduating I worked in London as a designer working on factory machine knits for suppliers to the major high street retailers. I then started to design commercially produced handknits for similar companies.
I began designing for knitting magazines, which I still do now. I also work for yarn companies and have had several books published in my own name and have worked on others along with other designers. I have a team of knitters and a pattern writer who produces the garment designs.
