When you live up north, like we do, a beanie is essential. The Hyperbolic Puff Beanie, designed by Susannah Kate, is a perfect play on this classic accessory! Featuring a gorgeous, textured ribbing effect, through the clever use of overlay crochet, this crocheted beanie is made to endure many cold seasons. The twists and turns in its atypical pompom are reminiscent of the sharp bends in hyperbolas, truly adding a cherry on top of an already wonderfully functional and unique design.

Hi! My name is Susannah Kate. I live in Perth Australia where I work as veterinarian helping pets and their families and self-publish crochet patterns as Peppergoose Design. Crochet is just so versatile and one of my favourite sayings is that crochet can do (just about) anything! My crojo is to design modern garments and accessories that balance crochet lace and a knit-feel - the biggest compliment to me is when someone says, “I didn’t know crochet could look like that!”

Designing with crochet began as a means of grieving my grandmother who originally taught me this wonderful craft. Over time it has become a celebration of the colour, fibre, grading, and technical crochet geekery involved in manifesting a handmade wearable masterpiece out of string.

I believe crocheting clothes is a great way to express yourself and my goal is to inspire and help people achieve that. My crochet patterns are appreciated for their sleek aesthetic, data rich guidance, educational value, size inclusivity and good fit.

My website blog has free crochet tutorials for some of the common techniques I use in my patterns. I provide pattern support via my Facebook group Pepper-Gaggle and you can also find me as Peppergoose on Instagram, Facebook and Ravelry.
